1869 is the year Mark Twain visited Palestine, and then wrote "The Innocents Abroad". In this shot took in July 2012 while visiting, at sunrise, the Har haBáyit or Haram al-qudsī al-sharīf, in Jerusalem, I attempted to capture something like what Twain might have seen: "a place carefully built for preservation".
